Overview

Support the daily operation of Vessel Personnel by assisting in the management of crew development.

Responsibilities

  •  Ad Hoc Projects as directed by Manager
  • Supervise Kirby Tankerman Trainee and Apprentice Mate programs.
  • Coordinate the training and professional development of the Tankerman Trainees and Apprentice
    Mates (Covered and Uncovered). Creating individual training plans.
  • Conduct Apprentice Mate and Tankerman Trainee Orientations.
  • Coordinate with Crew Development Manager on Tankerman Trainee and Apprentice Mate placement
    and training process.
  • Ensure all postings in CMS for Tankerman Trainee and Apprentice Mates.
  • Coordinate Tankerman Trainee and Apprentice Mate payroll through CMS / Ceridian
  • Maintain Tankerman and Steersman Database
  • Schedule Basic Tankerman and TTAP Classes
  • Schedule First Aid and CPR and Fire Fighting Courses as needed
  • Schedule STCW Renewal Course as needed
  • Schedule Boat Handling and Radar classes
  • Schedule Basic Aptitude Assessments and Watchstandings for Covered and Uncovered steersman.
  • Coordinate the logistics and travel for all Tankerman Trainees and Apprentice Mates on a daily basis
  • Update and distribute Kirby’s USCG Designated Examiner list. Submit Wheelman for their USCG DE.
  • Maintain Tankerman Trainee and Apprentice Mate training metrics.
  • Coordinate Kirby’s Cadet Program
  • Order trinkets and supplies for career fairs and training programs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace atmosphere.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to follow instructions well and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and take on various tasks.
  • Knowledge and use of computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferred in Marine Transportation or Administration.  

 

Experience:

Preferred 2-3 years related experience in marine barge transportation.

Typical weekday hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm and after hours calls. Some travel may be required.
