Overview

Facilitate the communication of information between Vessel and Shoreside personnel including transmission of orders, gathering of traffic, coordination of dockside activities and resolution/notification of incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and review upcoming requirements.
  • Create orders as required.
  • Maintain area scheduling queue.
  • Send vessel orders.
  • Coordinate fleet arrivals and departures.
  • Update ETAs on barges.
  • Call dock notices as required.
  • Tender barges upon arrival in port as required.
  • Assign horsepower to upcoming and in progress as required.
  • Update ETDK barges waiting on dock.
  • Set up shore tanker men prior to arriving port as required.
  • Assist in the coordination of lightering gear with KLM as required.
  • Coordinate 3rd party shifts and spot shifting & towing with Sales.
  • Assist Sales with entry of 3rd party shift and spot towing orders as required.
  • Review and maintain 3rd party requirements.
  • Update morning reports.
  • Provide written turnover for CSR.
  • Review traffic for status, accuracy, and potential problems for non-unit / linehaul barges.
  • Communicate horsepower plans to other schedulers, CSRs, and Sales (as required)
  • Confirm trip requirements are met.
  • Assist in the coordination of barge preparation (stripping, cleaning, repairs, etc.)
  • Assist in the coordination of boat repairs with M&R
  • Attend daily meetings as required.
  • Communicate operational requirements or general concerns to Vessel Operations as required.
  • Communicate trip delays to Sales as required.
  • Assist in the coordination of incidents and problem resolution as required.
  • Coordinate additional horsepower needs with other Schedulers or Scheduling Manager as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Organized, detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Self-motivated and multi-task oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, personal computer, calculator.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) year of barge dispatch experience
