Kirby is seeking a safety-focused, dependable Yard Utility employee for the Brazos River Fueling Facility in Freeport, Texas. This position safely transfers fuel and lubricating oil to marine vessels and trucks, completes documentation for each transfer, maintains facility inventories, supports facility, office, and vehicle upkeep, and assists with barge fleeting and security activities. The employee must work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsible for every type of maintenance or repair of vessel equipment. Directly responsible for dockside problem-solving and major shipyard repairs, scheduled and unscheduled repairs.

Facilitate the communication of information between vessel and shoreside personnel including transmission of orders, gathering of traffic, coordination of dockside activities and notification of incidents.

The primary function of a Tank Barge PIC is to prepare the barges that are assigned and complete loading and discharging of oil, refined and petrochemical cargoes. The Tank Barge PIC must communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of product understands what the product is, and how it should be transferred and protected. The Tank Barge PIC normally works a rotating 6 days on, and 3 days off schedule.

This shoreside job primarily involves safely and efficiently cleaning barges and ensuring barges are safe for entry as well as assigned shoreside facility maintenance, cleaning, and security duties. The position does not require service as a crew member for the operation of any specific vessel.
