Facilitate the communication of information between vessel and shoreside personnel including transmission of orders, gathering of traffic, coordination of dockside activities and notification of incidents.
The Fleet Utility Worker is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Kirby’s barge fleet land-based and floating facilities along the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. This role involves working across all Kirby fleet locations in the region, using a company vehicle to service these sites, and ensuring operational readiness through hands-on tasks in a marine environment.
The Primary function of a Tank Barge PIC is to prepare the barges that are assigned and complete loading and discharging of oil, refined and petrochemical cargoes. The Tank Barge PIC must communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of product understands what the product is, and how it should be transferred and protected. The Tank Barge PIC normally works a rotating 6 days on, and 3 days off schedule.
As a Yard Utility worker, the essential duties involve barge cleaning, operating facility equipment like vapor combustors, and performing fueling operations. Responsibilities also include facility maintenance, janitorial duties, and driving company vehicles for parts pick-up and deliveries as required. Additionally, other duties may be assigned as needed to support facility operations.

Port Engineer will be assigned a fleet of vessels and will be communicating with the vessel crews, vendors, and regulatory agencies frequently.
This position is located in Channelview, TX 77530. The Barge cleaner will perform the duties required to strip and clean the barge in order to prepare it for its next cargo per owners’ specifications. The Barge Cleaner must adhere to Kirby’s training, safety, drug, and security requirements in order to insure safe and efficient working conditions for barge cleaning.
